The B-side to “Christmas Time” was a song called “ Reggae Christmas” that had been recorded the year prior, so I also asked Vallance about that song and here is what he said: I actually wrote “Reggae Christmas” for Ringo Starr in 1979. ![]() Alas, they never made a music video for it back when it was originally released, but here is a more recent video created for “Christmas Time” by Bryan Adams… In 2001, Adams even performed “Christmas Time” at the Vatican for Pope John-Paul II. And over 35 years later, it still deservingly gets lots of radio airplay during the holiday season. Though some might not agree with me, I consider this to be one of the best original Christmas songs to be released during the last few decades. That makes you wish it was Christmas every day The chorus, in particular, is quite poignant: There’s something about Christmas time I have always loved this song’s melody and the sentiment it delivers. It was pressed on green vinyl and mailed to Bryan’s fans in December of that year. The drums were added in New York in October when Bob Clearmountain mixed the record. That’s summer in Vancouver, so I’m not sure why we were thinking about Christmas! Most of the track was recorded in my home studio. I asked Vallance about “ Christmas Time” and here is what he said: “Christmas Time” was written in May 1985. I asked him about many of the big hits they had written together, but I also took the opportunity to ask him about a couple holiday songs that they had released back in 1985. A while back, I had the privilege of an interview with Jim Vallance who was the songwriting partner of Bryan Adams during the ’80s. ![]()

![]() ![]() Paintstorm Studio would now be the preferred alternative painterly option, at half the price. Steam is the place it’s parked now (paid), though it has not been updated in over three years. It’s thus no competitor at all to Painter 2020 or later, or Paintstorm or SAI2.įinally, why is it called OpenCanvas, if it’s not open and free? Originally it was, but then was taken behind a paywall. OpenCanvas is very fast, easy to learn and stable (there were some issues with the beta, but the current version did not crash one time on my computer). ArtRage is a nice piece of software, anyway i prefer OpenCanvas, special for Manga/Comic drawing and concept art. Oct./15/2019 openCanvas Ver.7.0.25 is released. But i find it kind of slow and not intuitive. But I could just not work with those laggy brushes at all. Japanese cartoonists and illustrators are using openCanvas openCanvas is a paint/drawing software program from Japan, it is used worldwide and received many software awards. It has some nice tools, such as very intuitive canvas navigator panel (the ‘Hand’, seen above in the bottom-right corner), which is very elegant compared to the ancient lumpen Navigator in Photoshop. And the brushes are in general very uninspiring, even when you start to set their pressure sensitivity (which has to be done for each one, it seems – there’s a openCanvas Ver.7 Manual if you want to know more). Two of the four Charcoal sticks are incredibly laggy. Anything with any transparency is very laggy, even at relatively small brush sizes. Even when allocated the maximum memory and when the canvas is down at just 2,000 x 1,600. The question is: can it match SAI2 or Paintstorm in brush speeds on a large canvas? It also runs fine on my older version of Windows and plays nicely with the XP-Pen. As you can see here in my first try at an OpenCanvas layout, re-configured in a way that makes sense to me. But it did have a dark mode, the lack of which is an almost insurmountable problem with Paint Tool SAI2. It’s a SAI2-a-like painting software, seemingly abandoned in circa October 2019. Thus the latest OpenCanvas 7.x was my choice of freebie. Cartoon Animator 4 Pipeline is nice, but I knew it was only a long trial. They had ArtRage 6 but I knew that would not complete the install for me, having unsigned components. I had one of their review units a while back and, as with most new XP-Pen monitors, if you register at the site there are nice freebies if you plug in your device’s serial number. Most programs dont seem to have a Save Layer option, so Im thinking thats what you are asking if OpenCanvas has. I finally got around to claiming my free $50 OpenCanvas 7.x painting software from XP-Pen. Short reveal of the new ArtRage OpenCanvas 5.5 has four different save options: Save Layer, Save As, Save, and Save Event. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Settle down for a good night’s rest with a ‘sleep timer’ to automatically stop any track from playing and put your music to bed. It requires a different kind of strategy in both deckbuilding and combat, and it truly works really well. The dual character dynamic and positioning mechanism gives Roguebook a very distinct feel from most deck builders. Instead, the one character remaining has a chance to revive the other, and two useless wound cards get added to the deck as a penalty. One character going down doesn’t mean the end. The driving first: it feels spot on in almost every aspect from the way you smash through fences and a litany of other breakables, to the way you can now just mow down entire hordes of our favourite shuffling meat eaters: this simply does not get old. ![]() Obviously this is a fairly big addition to a game like this but I can tell you they absolutely nailed it. So the big new stick for the Following is the introduction of vehicles, namely an all terrain buggy that you acquire from pretty much the word go. For those who have not played the base game the way Kyle leaps, vaults and runs through the environment is simply one of the best first person parkour systems in the business. In addition even when not surrounded by tall buildings there are still plenty of things to scramble up such as power pylons and sections of motorway now in ruins. So if I'm honest - yes the far more open landscape does make the running and parkour feel a little less satisfying but then there are still plenty of built up areas for you to test your agility. Often you will head into an open field looking for some breathing room, only to break through the fence and see more zombies than bargain hunters on Black Friday. However this is not nearly as obvious because there are zombies everywhere and in massive concentrations. So right off the bat this changes the dynamic of the game and in theory dilutes that wonderful sense of claustrophobia the main game entangles you in. The setting this time is a far more rural affair with crop fields, wooden fences, small settlements and large industrial structures like refineries. The basic premise for The Following is that a dying man who has made it into the Slums tells you (Kyle Craine reprising his role as the main protagonist) that there is a way out of the city - this is where his people are and they are immune to the infection that decimated Harran in the main campaign. ![]() ![]() Furthermore, it says those just looking to complete the main story will be able to do so in around 20 hours, a considerably more manageable figure than its initial 500-hour claim. From a panned back perspective there are many aspects of The Following that are exactly the same as the base game but this is no bad thing. In yet another update today, however, the company has revised that figure down further, suggesting most players will need around 80 hours to finish Dying Light 2's main story and side quests. Regular players, it said, should "finish the story + side quests. Techland initially made its 500-hour completion claim in a post to Twitter on Saturday, and following a less-than-stellar response to the news - some fans called the extended playtime off-putting - Techland attempted to allay concerns by clarifying the figure only applied when completing all the quests, endings, and exploring every part of the world. The statement perhaps didn't have quite the desired effect, however, drawing ire from skeptical fans, and the company has now offered further clarification, saying the game should only take around 20 hours to beat at its most fundamental level. Over the weekend, developer Techland attempted to stir up some additional excitement for the impending arrival of its parkour-infused open-world zombie sequel Dying Light 2 by claiming players would likely need to set aside "at least 500 hours" to fully complete the game. ![]() ![]() 240, Philip, SD 57567 or call: 60 or contact by email at are offered daily throughout the year and begin at the park’s project office located off Interstate 90 exit 131.
